President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with the North Nilandhe Atoll Council and the Nilandhoo Island Council to discuss the most critical issues for developing Nilandhoo Island and the Faafu Atoll.
At the meeting, the Nilandhoo Island Council emphasised the significance of the airport project for revitalising the island and urged expediting its completion. Additionally, they underscored the importance of repairing the island's sewerage system, completing the water supply system promptly, constructing roads, and establishing an Islamic Centre as pertinent needs. They further noted the provision of housing units, ensuring a new building for the Council office, improving health services, and enhancing the ferry system. The Council also highlighted the significance of establishing a park and fostering the island's socio-economic development.
During the meeting, the Atoll Council also addressed their concerns, focusing on the development and most crucial issues for improvement and progress.
In response, President Dr Muizzu assured the Atoll Council and Nilandhoo Island Council that he would address the concerns raised during the meeting. Through the Ministers present, he relayed the latest updates on the key issues raised by the Council. The President further noted that Nilandhoo Island will be developed into an urban centre, with housing projects designed for urban living.
