President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with the M. Naalaafushi Island Council and the Women's Development Committee (WDC) and discussed the most important developmental plans for the island. The meeting was held at the Fenaka office of Naalaafushi.
During the meeting, the Council addressed the importance of accelerating the completion of the causeway, expediting water supply and sewerage projects, hastening the development of the new harbour, and promptly resuming construction of the halted new school building. Additionally, the Council raised concerns about the shortage of space at the Council Office and challenges stemming from the inadequate waste management system. They also underscored the simultaneous need for the development of sports and fishing industries. The members further disclosed the essential requirements for enhancing the health sector.
Speaking at the meeting, the Women's Development Committee (WDC) of M. Naalaafushi expressed the challenges arising from the lack of a designated workspace. The members of the Committee further requested that WDC be provided with an allowance of not less than MVR 5,000.
In response, the President assured that the Government is in the process of planning a new building for the council. He said that the Administration would thoroughly assess the concerns raised during the meeting. The attending Ministers provided the most recent updates on the Government's initiatives aimed at addressing the issues raised by the Council.
