President Dr Mohamed Muizzu engaged with the Baa Kihaadhoo Island Council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) to discuss their most prominent developmental needs. The meeting was held at the Secretariat of the Baa Atoll Kendhoo Island Council.
Council Members raised critical issues during the meeting, including land erosion, the relocation of the powerhouse, the suspension of the water and sanitation project, space constraints at the Council Secretariat, and challenges in obtaining relevant information from government offices regarding long-term leased properties on the island.
In addition, Council Members expressed concerns about leasing areas of environmental significance and spaces optimal for fisheries activities for other purposes.
Kihaadhoo WDC members also voiced concerns about budgetary constraints for their activities during the meeting.
In response, the President committed to construct an office complex on the island and agreed to address additional concerns conveyed.
