President Dr Mohamed Muizzu engaged in discussions with the Baa Atoll Council regarding the critical development needs of the atoll. The meeting was held at the Secretariat of the South Maalhosmadulu Atoll Council.

During the discussion, the Council raised concerns about the Atoll Council not receiving rent for the Atoll Shop in Male’, requested the Atoll Council's involvement in preserving biosphere reserves and overseeing environmentally protected areas. The Council also stressed the importance of keeping the Atoll Council informed about the allocation of various islands in the atoll for different purposes.

Additionally, Atoll Council members highlighted the need for housing loans, the implementation of ferry services, and expressed concerns about waste management services on the island.

The Council further provided insights into its waste management and renewable energy initiatives, and discussed additional developmental goals for the atoll.

In response, the President assured that the Administration will thoroughly examine the issues raised by the Council, giving them special attention.
