President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced the commencement of air ambulance services in the Maldives, starting on the first of March. The President made this announcement while addressing the people of Manadhoo this evening.

The President stated that the air ambulance operations, will begin in March utilising a Dash-8 aircraft and a seaplane, after undergoing necessary interior modifications. He underscored that this initiative is a significant step to demonstrate the nation's capability in the healthcare sector.

With the launch of the Dash-8 aircraft service, all airports in the country will be equipped to transport patients for emergency treatment. The President highlighted the versatility of travel, including the option to reach neighbouring Sri Lanka and connect to other destinations. He noted the use of a seaplane will facilitate the transportation of patients from islands without airports.

In addition to the air ambulance announcement, the President revealed plans to independently manage the country's economic zone from next month, aiming to develope the nation's competency and ensure true freedom for Maldivians.

Furthermore, President Dr Muizzu disclosed plans to begin the RTL ferry service significantly in N. Atoll. Addressing local needs in Manadhoo Island, the President acknowledged the requirement for at least 300 housing units and reassured the fulfillment of all promised developments, including a sports complex, road development, and other infrastructure projects.
