President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with the South Miladhunmadulu Atoll Council members.
Deliberations at the meeting focused on the most pivotal developmental initiatives for the Atoll. The Council shared updates on their initiative to create an inter-island digital governance network in the Atoll.
Additionally, they requested salary increases for the Council's administrative staff, outlined their waste management plan, focusing on reducing waste volume.
They also requested and emphasised the importance of low-maintenance designs infrastructure development.
Further, the Council proposed transforming Maafaru Island into an urban center, including the establishment of international passenger liner docking facilities, and an atoll ferry service. They also disclosed ambitious strategies for uninhabited islands within the Atoll.
Speaking at the meeting, President Dr Muizzu assured the members of the Council that he would address and find solutions to all the issues raised. The attending Ministers provided updates on the Government's ongoing efforts to address these concerns.
