President Dr Mohamed Muizzu announced that the nearby Hirinaidhoo will be brought under the jurisdiction of Nellaidhoo for the residents' economic benefit. He made the announcement while addressing the residents of Hdh. Nellaidhoo Island. The President urged the council to submit the necessary documents to acquire the island.
The President assured that the government is committed to providing resources for workers engaged in various livelihoods. He mentioned that these efforts are progressing effectively. Additionally, he announced plans to create a platform for selling products from fisheries and other skilled sectors.
The President underscored the importance of expanding tourism, particularly in South Thiladhunmathi, as Hanimaadhoo International Airport undergoes development. He stressed the need to broaden tourism activities to include both the atolls and the four northern atolls.
The President further stated that a housing project tailored to the needs of Nallaidhoo's residents will be initiated on the island.
