President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with the members of the HA. Thuraakunu Island Council and the Women's Development Committee (WDC). The meeting was held at Thuraakunu School.

During the meeting, the Council discussed various island-related issues. They emphasised the need for road construction, establishing a Maldivian Islamic monument, and developing sports facilities for youth. The Council also highlighted the residents' desire to bring the nearby uninhabited island Van’gaaru under their jurisdiction. They identified the lack of space for the council office and school and issues with the island's harbour as pressing concerns. Additionally, the Council noted the residents' eagerness for a land reclamation project and raised concerns about the power crisis and challenges faced by the island's health centre.

At the meeting, the WDC of Thuraakunu members shared their concerns, including budget constraints.

The President conveyed his commitment to engage with relevant authorities to address the concerns raised by the Council. The Ministers in attendance shared the latest updates on the Government's efforts on the issues raised by the Council.
