President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with the G.A. Kolamaafushi Island Council members and the Women's Development Committee (WDC). The meeting was held at the Secretariat of the Kolamaafushi Island Council.
At the meeting, Council members conveyed the need for land reclamation as their top concern. They expressed the need to establish an airport in the island's vicinity, aspirations for tourism development, and proposed design changes to the island harbour, including the requirement of a slipway. The Council members further cited the difficulties in waste management and concerns over the challenges in providing electricity to the island. They also emphasised the healthcare, education, and socio-economic developmental needs of the island community.
In response, the President assured the addressing of the concerns brought to his attention via the established government procedures. He also relayed the latest information on the development projects intended for the progress of the community through his Ministers.
