President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with the island council and WDC members of Kinbidhoo Island. The meeting was held at Kinbidhoo Island School today.
At the meeting, council members shared the island’s developmental challenges and the residents' concerns with the President. Some concerns raised at the meeting include the need to connect Kinbidhoo Island and Veymandoo Island through reclamation and the development of a multipurpose hall for the school. Council members also shared the challenges faced by Kinbidhoo Island residents in seeking Aasandha, the Government's universal healthcare insurance scheme. Council members relayed concerns related to tourism development, transportation, and social issues. They also conveyed the difficulties faced by the island's youth due to insufficient sports facilities on the island.
At the meeting, WDC members also shared their concerns and their most important needs with the President. They raised concerns about budget constraints and the difficulties faced by women in marketing their products.
Speaking at the meeting, President Dr Muizzu assured that the Administration would work alongside relevant authorities to seek solutions to the concerns raised. The President strongly encouraged the council to capitalise on the opportunities presented by the Government, with the aim of generating substantial revenue for the island and its inhabitants. Moreover, the President underscored the Government's ongoing commitment to women's empowerment, affirming that the Administration will continue to create increased opportunities for women in the future.
A high-level government delegation accompanied President Dr Muizzu on his tour of the Kolhumadulu Atoll.
