President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on Wednesday vowed to end the long history of neglect faced by Kolhumadulu Atoll. He made the commitment while speaking with the residents of Kandoodhoo Island in Kolhumadulu Atoll.
President Dr Muizzu elaborated on his commitment, stating that he would ensure that Kolhumadulu receives development opportunities akin to other atolls and consists of developed islands. The President added that the Maldivian economy was in ruins when he came into office and that the Administration has since implemented measures to remedy the situation. Furthermore, he emphasised that an impartial investigation by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) supports the efficacy of the government's measures.
Speaking about the health concerns of Kandoodhoo residents, the President affirmed the Administration prioritises the health of thalassaemia patients and their families. The President additionally stated that his Administration would generally ease thalassaemia treatment procedures and pay special attention to the island's Health Centre development project.
