Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef met with the members of the Madaveli Council of Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll and discussed developmental initiatives. The meeting was held at the President's Office.
During the meeting, council members emphasised challenges arising from limited land resources and concerns expressed by the island's fishing community. Additionally, they conveyed their apprehension regarding the incomplete water and sanitation project, the necessity for harbour expansion, and the space constraints of the mosque on the island. They further highlighted the difficulties encountered by the island school caused by space constraints and the absence of single-session classes.
The Vice President acknowledged that the council members' emphasised projects were crucial for the island's development and added that the Government is also committed to resolving the community's most pressing issues.
He also noted that the Government has significant development initiatives for the island and assured the residents that these plans would be implemented per their requests. The Vice President additionally reassured them that their most pertinent issues would be addressed after consulting with relevant authorities.
