President Dr Mohamed Muizzu announced today that the construction work for Kolhumadulu Guraidhoo Airport would commence within the year. He made the remarks while speaking at the meeting with the residential community of Th. Guraidhoo Island.
Beginning his remarks, the President expressed his gratitude to the island community for the warm welcome he received upon arrival. He stated that the Administration had included most development initiatives within the Government budget within the short time frame it received.
In his remarks, the President emphasised the prominence of Guraidhoo Island’s airport project for its residents and announced that the Administration would carry out the project despite not being listed as a developmental initiative in the Government budget. He added that the Administration aims to bring about sustainable development meaningfully.
President Dr Muizzu reaffirmed the Administration’s commitment to addressing the pertinent needs of the residential community of Kolhumadulu Guraidhoo Island. He assured that the Administration is committed to addressing the populace's needs, extending beyond the scope of airport development projects. Shedding light on the nation’s present economic position, President Dr Muizzu called upon the residential community to work alongside the relevant Government offices to prioritise these needs in order of significance.
