President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has assured that his Administration will find a way to reimburse fishermen, even if it entails taking a loan from the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company Ltd. (MIFCO).

The President made the remarks while speaking at a series titled ‘Raees ge javaabu’ launched by the President's Office today.

This platform enables the public to get direct responses to their queries from the President via social media. As such, renowned HDH. Nolhivaranfaru fisherman Abdul Ganee posed questions to the President, enquiring how fishermen will get paid for the fish they catch.

President Dr Muizzu stated that fishermen’s dues amounting to MVR 250 million remained unpaid when the Administration took office. He noted that this Administration has paid twice as much as MVR 200 million in dues since he took office, but he also pointed out that a sizable sum is yet to be distributed to the fishermen.

The President further declared that efforts were underway to ensure the fishermen received instant access to the total due amount. He went on to state that arrangements would be made in this regard.

Starting today, the President will respond to inquiries from the general public through this series as per his availability. In addition, the President’s Office will offer daily video access to the responses to public inquiries.
