Vice President H.E. Hussain Mohamed Latheef visited the Qujing Tongquan Wind Farm in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China on Wednesday. The Vice President is in China on an official visit to attend the ‘China-Indian Ocean Region Forum on Development Cooperation’.
The Tongquan Wind Farm Project is one of the 20 wind power projects in Yunnan Province's new energy plan. During the visit, the Vice President toured the wind farm’s control centre and inquired about the facility's operations.
The Maldives recently announced its ambitious plan to develop renewable energy systems capable of providing 33% of the nation's electrical needs within the next five years.
The Vice President is scheduled to address the ‘China-Indian Ocean Region Forum on Development Cooperation' organised by the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA). He is accompanied by the Minister of Economic Development and Trade, H.E. Mohamed Saeed, at the forum scheduled for December 7–8 in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China.
