The Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Türkiye, H.E. İbrahim Yumakli, paid a courtesy call on H.E. President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on Tuesday. The meeting was held at the Presidential Guesthouse, Türkiye.
During the courtesy call, discussions focused on potential avenues for collaboration between the two nations in areas of shared interest. President Dr Muizzu underscored the importance of strengthening partnerships in existing areas of cooperation, both within the bilateral and multilateral spheres.
The conversation also encompassed promoting and enhancing bilateral trade, with a particular focus on the agriculture and fisheries sectors in the Maldives. President Dr Muizzu and Minister Yumakli deliberated on implementing training programs tailored to the needs of the agricultural industry.
President Dr Muizzu and the Turkish Minister reaffirmed their commitment to fostering and elevating the relationship between the two friendly nations, with a vision of reaching unprecedented heights in the future.
This year marks 44 years of diplomatic relations between Türkiye and the Maldives, established on May 28, 1979.
President Dr Muizzu is currently on an official visit to Türkiye at the invitation of the Turkish President. First Lady Sajidha Mohamed and a high-level Maldivian delegation comprising senior government officials are accompanying the President on the visit.
