President of Turks Abroad and Related Communities of the Republic of Türkiye Mr Abdullah Eren, has paid a courtesy call on H.E. President Dr Mohamed Muizzu this afternoon at the Presidential Guesthouse, Türkiye.

During the meeting, Mr Eren warmly welcomed President Dr Muizzu and conveyed his congratulations on the President's recent assumption of office.

The discussions centered on enhancing cooperation between the Maldives and Türkiye, particularly in the fields of education and social culture. They also discussed potential scholarship opportunities for Maldivian students and underscored the importance of advancing vocational training within the tourism sector.

At the call, both President Dr Muizzu and the President of Turks Abroad and Related Communities, emphasised the need for training Maldivians in areas such as national defence, health, and medicine. In addition, they spoke on expanding enrollments in specialized training programs tailored for mid-career professionals.

Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Türkiye were established on May 28, 1979.

President Dr Muizzu is currently on an official visit to Türkiye at the invitation of the Turkish President. First Lady Sajidha Mohamed and a high-level Maldivian delegation comprising senior government officials are accompanying the President on the visit.
