The Special Envoy of the Chinese President, H.E. Uz Shen Yiqin, State Councillor of the People's Republic of China, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef on Saturday morning at the President’s Office.

During the meeting, the Vice President warmly welcomed and thanked the Chinese delegation for participating in the Presidential Inauguration. He stated that this visit demonstrated the strong relations between the Maldives and China and was a testament to the rapport between the two countries.

State Councillor H.E. Shen Yiqin stated that it gave her great pleasure to attend the inauguration ceremony as the Special Envoy of Chinese President Xi Jinping and congratulated Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef on his assumption of office.

During the call, the Vice President and the Chinese Special Envoy discussed the two countries' close bilateral ties based on mutual trust, understanding, respect, and shared interests. Continuing the conversation, they explored avenues of partnership between the two nations, including economic cooperation, financial cooperation and people-to-people contact.

Concluding the call, the Vice President and the Chinese Special Envoy reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the fraternal bonds of friendship between the two countries.
