Vice President Faisal Naseem on Thursday urged the Maldives Police Service to keep continuing and enhancing their efforts to maintain the public's safety and security throughout the next presidential term. He made this appeal during a meeting held with the frontline police officers working in the Malé area.
 
The Vice President addressing the gathering, stated that the Police Service has made significant progress in the last five years, despite challenges. He noted the launch of the National College of Policing and Law Enforcement and noted the numerous efforts made to further the development of police services in this regard.
 
He also commended the Police Services for their efforts in ensuring public safety and security, highlighting in particular their proactive involvement during the COVID-19 crisis.
 
The Vice President encouraged the Police Service to carry on their efforts in addressing domestic issues and issues related to marine transport, road safety and security, work environments, and drug abuse. He highlighted the efforts being made to develop L. Kalhaidhoo as a rehabilitation island, emphasising the administration's holistic approach to substance abuse and addiction.
 
The Vice President additionally commended the Police Service for their efforts to increase awareness, guarantee public safety and security, and ensuring a secure society.
