President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih inaugurated the newly completed infrastructure projects on Thursday on Himendhoo Island in Alif Alif Atoll and Olhuvelifushi Island in Lhaviyani Atoll. These projects encompassed a new football ground on Himendhoo Island and a powerhouse on Olhuvelifushi Island. The new infrastructure was officially unveiled as part of President Solih's ongoing tour.

The football ground on Himendhoo Island was surfaced with turf and developed to include amenities by Amin Construction Pvt. Ltd., the project's contractor. The powerhouse on Olhuvelifushi Island is a facility that represents an improvement to the existing infrastructure. Its strategic location, away from the residential area, minimises disruption to the island's inhabitants.

The administration has implemented various initiatives to provide modern football grounds, futsal fields, and sports courts across the atolls. These efforts are designed to promote healthy and active lifestyles among young people, foster the development of local athletic talent, and create a more vibrant and active community. By providing access to high-quality sports facilities, these initiatives are helping to achieve these goals.
