H.E. First Lady Fazna Ahmed met on Monday with H.E. Mrs Linda Ramkalawan, the First Lady of the Republic of Seychelles. The meeting was held at the Official Residence of the President, Mulee'aage. The Seychellois President and First Lady are on an official visit to the Maldives at the invitation of H.E. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
First Lady Fazna spoke with First Lady Ramkalawan at the meeting about the cultural and socioeconomic similarities between the Maldives and Seychelles. She expressed confidence that the two countries would continue cooperating and that this visit would strengthen their relationship.
First Lady Fazna acknowledged Mrs Ramkalawan's work in the hospitality industry, noting her outstanding performance in the sector and role as a role model for women in leadership, particularly in tourism. Mrs Ramkalawan shared her experience entering the hospitality industry and the opportunities available to women.
They also discussed the importance of protecting children in state care. They noted the need to improve the operations of state care facilities to provide a safer and more supportive environment for children living there. First Lady Fazna highlighted the administration's effective policy of reintegrating children into society. She also emphasised the importance of enrolling children in regular schools and urged the community to recognise the negative impacts of discrimination against children in vulnerable circumstances.
First Ladies Fazna and Mrs Ramkalawan emphasised that protecting children and addressing social sector challenges would benefit the community. In conclusion, they expressed their hope for the continued happiness, health, and prosperity of the people of their respective countries.
