The High Commissioner of the Republic of Singapore to the Republic of the Maldives, H.E. Soo Kok Leng, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Vice President Faisal Naseem. The meeting was held at the President’s Office this morning.
Speaking with the High Commissioner, the Vice President congratulated him on his new appointment and welcomed him to the Maldives. The Vice President and the High Commissioner emphasised the strong relationship between the two countries and spoke on the importance of close collaboration on areas of mutual benefit.
The Vice President and the High Commissioner also spoke on ways to further expand relations between the two countries, especially in human resource development, education, trade, agriculture, renewable energy, climate change, and the environment. They also highlighted the need for both countries to share knowledge and expertise in adopting initiatives and programmes, such as educational curriculum development, vocational training, modern agricultural methods, and rehabilitation programmes.
In conclusion, the Vice President and the High Commissioner reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the coming years. The Maldives and Singapore established diplomatic relations on February 20, 1975.
