H.E. First Lady Fazna Ahmed on Thursday met with H.E. Hala Mohammed Jaber Al Ansari, the Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Women of Bahrain.

The First Lady and the Secretary General spoke about the importance of collaborative efforts to promote and protect rights for women and children.

Speaking at the meeting, the First Lady commended the Supreme Council's role in addressing women's needs to help them reach their full potential and contribute to society. She conveyed that the protection and promotion of women's and children's rights is a priority policy area for the Maldives that she is deeply passionate about.

The meeting concluded with both the First Lady and the Secretary General expressing their willingness to work towards the common goal of empowering girls and women.

The Supreme Council for Women was established on 22 August, 2001. H.R.H Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa chairs the council, which includes 16 female public figures with experience in women's affairs.
