President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Friday sent messages of condolence to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Acting President, Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Ruler of Dubai; and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, following the passing away of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, the Emir of Abu Dhabi, and the Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

The President’s message stated that he was deeply saddened to hear about the passing away of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa. He also stated that the government and the people of the Maldives extend their deepest condolences to the royal family, the government, and the people of the UAE.

The message went on to say that His Highness Sheikh Khalifa was a close ally and friend to the Maldives, and a visionary leader who made important strides to take the UAE to great heights of progress and prosperity.
