President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, on Thursday afternoon, met with the council members of the Inguraidhoo Island Council of Raa Atoll. At the meeting held at the President’s Office, the council members expressed their appreciation for ongoing development projects in the island, noting that funds have been allocated in next year's budget for several major development requests.
The council members also discussed with the President the most pressing issues and concerns of the residents. Council members highlighted the need for road development, the difficulties due to the harbour and adjacent channel, and the challenges to proper waste management. They expressed the difficulties caused by the lack of staff and space constraints at the Island Council Secretariat. Councillors also noted similar issues in the school and health centre. The council members further explored the prospects of developing an airport in the region, a new mosque on the island and other socially beneficial projects.
Speaking at the meeting, President Solih shared the latest information and updates on the developmental queries requested by the council members. He further assured to work alongside relevant authorities to find solutions to the issues and concerns of the residents. In addition, the President expressed his confidence in seeking amicable solutions to the challenges and difficulties faced by the island residents.
