Vice President Faisal Naseem has today met with the members of Addu City Council and enquired about their concerns at the meeting held at the Secretariat of the Addu City Council.
During this meeting, Vice President remarked that with the amendments made to the Decentralisation Act, government services offered to the people would shift to a system where these services are available close to home. In this regard, he highlighted actions to boost the city's healthcare services and held comprehensive discussions with councillors on the subject.
Members of the Addu City Council briefed the Vice President on the most pressing issues and interests of their residents in various sectors. They shed light on the challenges faced by the council, such as a lack of adequate human resources and budgetary constraints. They also asked the Vice President to consider prioritising Addu residents when hiring workers for government urban development projects in the city.
Addressing their concerns, the Vice President stated that he would speak with relevant authorities to find viable solutions regarding their requests.
