Vice President Faisal Naseem met with the members of the Haddhunmathi Atoll Dhanbidhoo Island Council today. Council members shared the most urgent developmental needs of the residents of the island with the Vice President during the meeting held this morning at the President’s Office.
The Vice President and the members of the Dhanbidhoo Council broadly discussed solutions to several concerns impacting the daily lives of residents such as issues with the water and sewerage system, the powerhouse, coastal erosion and the difficulties faced in the provision of healthcare in the island. Further discussions spanned the most urgent issues faced by the council and residents of Dhanbidhoo Island, including making repairs to the local mosque, waste management, new premises for the council secretariat and a futsal field for the youth of the island. Councillors also relayed that they require an outdoor gym that can accommodate all ages to promote wellness and healthy habits in the island.
Vice President Faisal Naseem shared the latest updates regarding the issues raised by the council. He stated that he would work with the relevant government agencies to address the issues raised by the councillors, affirming that the government would provide their full support to the council. Speaking further, the Vice President noted that the current stormy weather patterns had resulted in tragic occurrences, calling on all councils to ensure that their constituents abide by the rules and regulations established for their protection.
