President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih met with the delegates from the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) to discuss the advancement of volleyball in the Maldives. The meeting was held this afternoon at the President's Office.
Speaking at the meeting, the President of FIVB, Dr Ary S. Graça noted that the Maldivian lifestyle easily accommodates beach volleyball as a sport.
President Solih spoke, highlighting the Government's commitment to facilitate young athletes to reach their full potential and increase their presence in international sporting events. In this regard, he discussed different requirements needed for the clubs and organisations to promote Maldives Volleyball, including the development of a high-performance training center in the Maldives for the athletes' long-term training.
President Solih and the President of the FVIB additionally discussed avenues to further promote beach volleyball in the Maldives.
The President was joined at today's meeting by the Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, Ahmed Mahloof, the Chief of Staff at the President's Office, Uz Ali Zahir, Secretary, Foreign Relations, at the President's Office, Ibrahim Hood, and the President of the Volleyball Association of the Maldives, Mohamed Raneysh.
