First Lady Fazna Ahmed has, late this morning, paid a visit to the school in Rasgetheemu Island of North Maalhosmadulu Atoll and met the faculty. During the visit, she donated two books to the school library on preventing bullying and sexual violence awareness.

The First Lady urged the faculty members to guide their students to remain mindful of negative social influences and highlighted the primary role of educators in countering such issues. She extended her gratitude to them for their diligence during the Covid-19 pandemic, continuing teaching through online resources.

During the discussions, the faculty members shared several of the most pertinent issues they faced, including challenges to single-session schooling and requested the First Lady's advice on solving several problems. The First Lady encouraged teachers to prioritise comprehensive education, foster the skills and instil good character in the students to ensure they strive to become successful and productive members of society.

The school in Rasgetheemu Island, the President and First Lady's seventh destination in their three-day trip to North Miladhunmadulu and North Maalhosmadulu atolls, currently teaches 125 students between lower kindergarten and grade ten classes. Cabinet ministers, senior executives from the President’s Office and a delegation of high-level government officials accompany the President and First Lady on this trip.
