President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has conveyed his deepest condolences to the family of the Late Mohamed Nooradheen, recipient of the Most Honourable Order of Distinguished Rule of Izzudheen and long-serving member of the government.

Speaking to the bereaved family, President Solih said that he was deeply saddened to hear of Mohamed Nooradheen's passing. The President stated that Mohamed Nooradheen had served the nation, and the people, with sincerity and integrity throughout his distinguished career.

Mohamed Nooradheen served the government in several high-profile positions through an illustrious career spanning over 53 years. He began his service to the nation on 25 July 1954 and had held positions in several early government institutions such as the Prime Minister's Office, Meteorological Office and the Municipality. He later went on to fill posts such as Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Deputy Minister of Education and Deputy Minister of State for Religious Affairs.

Mohamed Nooradheen also represented the people of Noonu Atoll, Dhaalu Atoll and Gaafu Alifu Atoll, respectively, as their elected member of parliament.

Mohamed Nooradheen received the Most Honourable Order of Distinguished Rule of Izzudheen on 26 July 2011. He was also honoured with the National Exemplary Service Medal for over 50 years of continuous service to the nation.
