President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has presented the National Award of Honour to 14 individuals and the National Award of Recognition to 24 individuals. The recipients were presented with the awards at the official ceremony held to mark National Unity Day. The function was held tonight at Republic Square.

Recipients of the National Award of Honour received a shield of honour and a badge of honour while the recipients of the National Award of Recognition received a commemorative plaque. This year's honourees were selected by the National Awards Committee, established by the President for the task. From the 14 recipients of the National Award of Honour, 6 had won the National Award of Recognition in previous years.

The 14 honourees who received the National Award of Honour this year, in no particular order, are:

1. Mohamed Rasheed, for his contributions to Dhivehi literature and the Dhivehi Language
2. Abdul Azeez Jamal Abu- bakur, for his contributions to Dhivehi literature and the Dhivehi Language.
3. Mohamed Waheed (Posthumous), for his contributions to Dhivehi Literature and the Dhivehi Language.
4. Ibrahim Waheed, for his contributions to Dhivehi Literature and the Dhivehi Language.
5. Dr Naila Ibrahim Mohamed Didi, for her contributions to the Health Sector.
6. Adnan Ali, for his contributions to the Fisheries Sector.
7. Ahmed Saleem, for his contributions to the Tourism Sector.
8. Mohamed Waheed, for his contributions to the Agriculture Sector.
9. Mariam Waheeda, for her contributions in Social work.
10. Moomina Ibrahim, for her contributions in Disseminating News and Information.
11. Mohamed Saeed, for his contributions in the field of Sports.
12. Hussain Rasheed Hassan, for his contributions in the field of Sports.
13. Ahmed Latheef, for his contributions to the field of Sports.
14. Mohamed Maniku, for his contributions to the field of the Visual Arts.

Speaking during the ceremony tonight, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih extended his congratulations and warm wishes to all the recipients of this year’s National Awards.
