Vice President Faisal Naseem has this evening visited Thilafushi Island and inquired the progress of the Greater Malé Waste-to-Energy project. During the visit, he met and held discussions with the team engaged in the project led by the Ministry of Environment with the assistance of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
The Vice President also visited the worksite of the Waste Management Corporation Ltd (WAMCO) in Thilafushi Island and met with the officials. During the meeting, he inquired about the challenges facing proper waste management in the Greater Malé Region. Discussions were also focused on the plans to develop waste management services in the region further.
The Vice President was accompanied during the visit by Dr Hussain Rasheed Hassan, the Minister of Environment, and other officials of relevant agencies.
