Vice President Faisal Naseem has held discussions this afternoon regarding traffic congestion on the streets of Male' and problems faced due to parking constraints. The online meeting was joined by Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Aishath Nahula, senior representatives from the Ministry, Male' City Mayor, Shifa Mohamed and representatives from Maldives Police Services.

The discussions focussed on how to mitigate traffic congestion and relevant parking constraints expected to arise as the government eases the strict lockdown measures enforced due to COVID-19. They also discussed the importance of ensuring that road safety measures are in place for the resurgence of traffic and pedestrians.

Speaking during the discussions, Vice President Faisal Naseem stated that it is important to resume all activities and protocols that were in place prior to the lockdown, to reduce traffic congestion and assure road traffic safety. He further urged the attendants to collaborate towards easing the traffic challenges confronting residents of Male' City, through broadening public transport networks, reinforcing road safety and improving convenient access to parking.
