Vice President Faisal Naseem has met with members of the Ungoofaaru Island Council of North Maalhosmadulu Atoll. The meeting was held this afternoon at the Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital meeting room.

Upon arrival to Ungoofaaru, the Vice President was welcomed welcomed by the Island’s residents.

At the meeting, Councillors shared the major concerns and priorities of their constituents. They also shared updates of ongoing and planned development projects for the Island.

Discussing further, Councillors raised the concern over problems with quality-maintainance currently being faced while carrying out development projects. Likewise, they highlighted resident’s concerns regarding the school building project, road development project and upgrading the Island’s mosque. Furthermore, Councillors also raised concerns over beach erosion in the island and scarcity of water supply.

During the meeting, the Vice President noted that the main objective behind regional visits such as these are to see and understand the situations of the communities and trying to fulfil the needs of the people. The Vice President also affirmed that the Administration would work with relevant stakeholders to address the concerns raised by the Councillors.

Vice President Faisal Naseem also strongly urged the Councillors to collaborate with their constituents in implementing the Child Protection Act. work towards achieving societal harmony. He further urged Councillors to work in collaboration with their constituents to improve their lives and livelihoods by spreading awareness on healthy lifestyles and to work towards achieving social harmony.
