President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has met with council members and representatives from institutions in Gan Island of Haddhunmathi Atoll. The meeting was held today at the Secretariate of Gan Island Council.

The Councillors and institutional representatives briefed President Solih on the challenges faced in carrying out their work and apprised the President of the most pressing issues and urgent needs of the people of the Island community. They further shared opinions on social housing projects, road maintenance and raised concerns from the Island’s farmers. Moreover, heads and senior representatives from Island’s institutions highlighted most pressing issues and urgent needs for their respective trades, including information on school bus service in the Island and updates on the ongoing upgrading project of Laamu Atoll Regional Hospital. Additionally, they raised concerns on the proposed location for the construction of the Maldives National University (MNU) Campus in the Island.

Speaking during the meeting, the President stressed the importance to work collaboratively with all relevant stakeholders to bring about development and resolve any issues that the community may face. The President also affirmed that the Administration would work with relevant line ministries to address the concerns raised by the Councillors.
