President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed Uz Ahmed Muthasim Adnan as the Chief Justice of the Maldives and Uz Husnu Al Suood as a Justice of the Supreme Court. President Solih presented the letters of appointment at a ceremony held at the President’s Office this afternoon.
Uz Ahmed Muthasim Adnan was appointed as the Chief Justice of the Maldives as per Article 147 of the Constitution, while Uz Husnu Al Suood was appointed as a Supreme Court Justice as per Article 148 of the Constitution.
Chief Justice Uz Ahmed Muthasim Adnan holds a Master of Philosophy in Transnational Commercial Law from the University of Glasgow, the United Kingdom, and a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of Buckingham, the United Kingdom. He earlier served as a Justice of the Supreme Court from 2010-2014.
Justice Uz Husnu Al Suood holds a Master of Laws from the University of Queensland, Australia, and a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the International Islamic University, Malaysia. He was previously serving as the Chairman of the Presidential Commission on Enforced Deaths and Disappearances.
