President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has congratulated the fastest Maldivian runner Hassan Saaid for winning the gold medal in the100m race at the South Asian Games.

The President congratulated Saaid in a telephone call in which he praised the young athlete for his continued dedication in representing the Maldives in the international sporting arena. Highlighting that this is the first time that a Maldivian athlete had achieved a gold medal at the South Asian Games, President Solih said that the important achievement is both a milestone for improving sports in the Maldives and also a proud moment for all Maldivians.

Speaking further President Solih expressed that his pride in the many notable achievements by Saaid for the improvement of sports in the country and encouraged him to continue striving for more achievements.

Hassan Saaid achieved the gold medal from the100m relay at the South Asian Games. Athletes from 7 countries of SAARC take part in the 13th South Asian Games, held at Nepal.
