President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has met with Councillors from Kudahuvadhoo Island and South Nilandhe Atoll. The meeting was held today at Dhaalu Atoll Council Secretariat.
Councillors briefed the President on the ongoing developmental efforts in the atoll and Kudahuvadhoo island and discussed avenues on resolving the issues as well as the needs of the constituents.
Kudahuvadhoo Councillors noted that the island has a population of more than four thousand and is frequented by visitors seeking numerous services.
Some of the issues presented to the President by the councils include the need for creating more opportunities for youth, emergency air lift service for transferring patients to Malé and issues within the fisheries sector.
Councillors also briefed the President on the waste collection and management service offered to households and discussed issues pertaining to the sustainable management of the service.
Noting that Kudahuvadhoo plays an important role in the progress of the Atoll, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih revealed that the Kudahuvadhoo harbour expansion project has been included in the state budget for the upcoming year.
During the meeting, President Solih conveyed confidence in the Councillors to serve the people with sincerity. Highlighting the concerns raised by the Councillors, President Solih stated that all raised issues will be discussed with relevant line ministries and addressed swiftly.
