His Excellency President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has today met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, His Excellency Dr Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz Al-Assaf, on the sidelines of the 74th United Nations General Assembly held in New York, USA.
The President and the Minister discussed key upcoming undertakings in the Maldives, including infrastructural and industrial development projects, multilateral partnerships, and stability and security concerns in regional and international commerce, trade and development. The President expressed his confidence that the commencement of direct flights between Riyadh, Jeddah and Malé City will further enhance connectivity and benefit the people of both nations. They also discussed the establishment of a Maldivian consulate in Jeddah, and the possibility of a positive revision of the Saudi Visa Fee for Maldivians to travel to Saudi Arabia.
The Minister noted that he was pleased to see positive development in the bilateral relationship between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia and that he looks forward to building even stronger diplomatic ties between the two countries. The President and the Minister further discussed future development projects in the Maldives and issues of global importance.
