Professor Maitree Wickremesinghe, Spouse of Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, has paid a courtesy call on First Lady Fazna Ahmed. The call took place this morning at Mulee'aage, the Official Residence of the President of the Maldives.
First Lady Fazna Ahmed extended warm greetings to Professor Wickremesinghe upon her arrival at Mulee'aage, and discussed avenues of cooperation between the two countries. Speaking at the meeting, Professor Wickremasinghe noted that an 'island university' concept would attract a lot of publicity and students, given the geographical isolation of Maldives islands, and expressed interest in such a project.
Following the discussions, the First Lady and Professor Wickremesinghe observed a master class of authentic Maldivian cuisine comprising of the preparation of local delicacy 'Kashikeyo Baipen', conducted by a Masterchef from the Chef's Guild of Maldives. The First Lady and Professor Wickremesinghe noted similarities between Maldivian and Sri Lankan cuisine and discussed creating a fusion of the two.
Professor Wickremesinghe also signed the guest book at Mulee'aage.
