The amendments ratified today comprises of the 2nd Amendment to the Maldivian Islamic University Act, 2nd Amendment bill to Maldives National University Act and the 5th amendment to the Maldives Pension Act.
The amendment to the Maldives Islamic University Act was passed by the Parliament on the 25th sitting of the second session of the People’s Majlis, encompassing changes to the selection of senior University Staff and the selection of Chancellors and Vice Chancellors. Further, the amendment passed relevant to the Maldivian National University Act, also on the 25th sitting of the second session of the People's Majlis, regarding the formation of its council.
The third legislative change ratified today pertains to the Maldives Pension Act. Under the 5th amendment to this act, Maldivian Citizens may utilize their pensions funds to finance upto 80 percent of the Hajj Pilgrimage fee.
Upon ratification, the Acts have now been published in the government gazette.
