President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has met with the members of the South Maalhosmadulu Atoll Council and conversed on the atoll’s ongoing and planned developmental projects.

The council members shared some of the most urgent and pertinent issues being faced by their constituents, solutions to ameliorate those issues, and impediments to the atoll’s further development. Some of the issues mentioned during the council members’ discussions with the President included the need to renovate several of the atoll’s harbours encompassing several islands, improving inter-atoll ferry services, and various operational difficulties faced by the council.

The President acknowledged all of the council members’ concerns and updated the council members regarding new projects approved by his administration will address several of the issues they raised.

He further assured them that he would communicate their grievances and requirements to the relevant line ministries, and instruct them to take appropriate actions.
