President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, First Lady Fazna Ahmed and the accompanying delegation have arrived back in Male’ tonight, concluding the State Visit to Singapore.

President Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed received a warm welcome from the Singaporean government and participated in a State luncheon hosted by the President of Singapore Her Excellency Madam Halimah Yacob. Additionally, two MOUs were signed between the two governments.

During the visit, President Solih met with the President of Singapore and the Prime Minister of Singapore, His Excellency Lee Hsien Loong, to shine a light on how to further strengthen and diversify bilateral ties between the two countries. President Solih also met with the members of the Maldivian community in Singapore to better grasp their particular concerns and enquired as to how the Maldivian Government can be of assistance.

Prior to the conclusion of his visit, the President and First Lady visited Pulau Semakau, an offshore landfill managed by Singapore’s National Environment Agency, to learn from Singapore’s experiences and expertise in waste management.
