President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has this morning met with the Members of Mulaku Atoll Kolhufushi Island Council.
At the meeting held at the President’s Office this afternoon, members of the council briefed the President on the most urgent needs of the Island’s citizen, and the council’s plans for the further development and economic progress of the Island.
During the meeting, council members highlighted that the people of Kolhufushi Island are highly expectant of the development of tourist resorts in the atoll. They also requested to provide job opportunity to the youth in Kolhufushi Island. Moreover, they shed light on difficulties faced by the Island community due to lack of housing units. Further, they requested to provide assistance to the council in the street lighting project.
Further speaking, the council members highlighted the issues of soil erosion in Dhiggaru, Mulak, and Kolhufushi island and requested to solve those issues. Additionally, they highlighted the issues to the harbour of Nalafushi Island.
Speaking at today’s meeting, President Solih expressed that the government would take necessary action after discussing with the relevant Ministries and address the specific issues and concerns raised by members of the Kolhufushi Island Council. He also highlighted the administration’s development plan and noted that extending the tourism industry to all parts of the country was one of the highest priorities of the administration.
