President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has today met with the members of the Veymandoo Island Council of Kolhumadulu Atoll. The meeting was held this afternoon at the President’s Office.
At the meeting, council members briefed the President on the most urgent needs of the island’s residents, and shared with him their concerns.
Members also noted that certain basic utility services still remained incomplete, and that the island’s harbor could not accommodate the high number of visitors to the island every day. Further, members raised the issue of undeveloped roads, without proper drainage systems.
Speaking at the meeting, President Solih said that the administration accords high priority to resolving the issues faced by the people. He also highlighted the reform measures being taken by the administration in empowering the local councils fully, and strengthening the decentralized system of governance.
