President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that the MNDF doctrine will assist vastly in the improvement of the force. The President made this remark while speaking at a ceremony held to mark MNDF 127th Anniversary.
After launching the doctrine the president stated that with the new doctrine security forces will be well equipped in facing the challenges and dangers faced with the changing international security situation. And with the help of this doctrine, the national defence force will be fortified as a military force, will all required skills and training, as well as the resources needed.
While mentioning the terrorist attacks in Sri Lanka which took many innocent lives president said even though the attack took place in Sri Lanka, it poses a grave danger to the whole region. And president added that following the attacks, the Maldives National Force, National Counter Terrorism Centre and the Maldives Police Service have joined forces in determining our current security situation and the necessary steps to be taken.
President said that in order to ensure the successful implementation of a decentralized governance system, the services of the national defence force must also be decentralized. President added that the services provided at the area commands have been broadened, in order to bring the services closer to the people, additional outposts are going to be established to encompass the Coast Guard and Fire & Rescue services.
Moreover, the President said that he is confident in the adherence to military professionalism and competence and that the MNDF will always uphold the constitution and rule of law.
