President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has this afternoon met with members of the Maalhos Council of South Maalhosmadulu Atoll.
At the meeting held at the President’s Office, members of the council shared their concerns and future development projects planned for the island. The Councilors especially noted the challenges being faced due to lack of sanitation.
During the meeting, the Councilors noted the challenges being faced due to lack of some facilities in the Health Center and School. They also noted issues faced in current harbour. Moreover, the Councilors requested to the President to establish a policy where councils and the community gain from the land provided on tourism purpose.
During the meeting, President Solih stated that the government would take necessary action after discussing with the line ministries and tackle these problems. He further informed that all projects allocated in this year’s budget will commence. In addition, President Solih said that priority will be accorded to fulfilling the fundamental needs of the islands, in implementing the administration’s development plan. He also reiterated the administration’s commitment to resolving the people’s needs.
