President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that his administration will never discriminate against a particular island or community, and reassured that all citizens will be treated equally. He said this while addressing the people of Feridhoo Island today as part of his tour of the island.
 
The President is on a one day trip to Ukulhas and Feridhoo of North Ari Atoll.
 
In his speech, President Solih said that safeguarding human rights is one of the most important responsibilities of the administration, and that ensuring justice for the people is one of its main goals. He also stated that the administration has been consistently putting in every effort to resolve the various challenges faced by the people.
 
Reflecting on the country’s past with regard to promoting human rights, President Solih sadly pointed out areas of previous neglect and emphasised the need to structure the administrative process in a way that painful history of the recent past does not repeat itself.
 
President Solih further reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to upholding its electoral pledges of ensuring the fundamental rights of the people.
