President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has stated that the people desire economic development and that economic growth must spread across the country. The President made this remark while speaking at the ceremony held this evening to mark the completion of four projects in Gaddhoo Island of South Huvadhu Atoll.
During his speech President Yameen said that instead of relying on international community to fulfill our needs, we must ensure that our economy is strong enough to cater to these needs, and ensure our self-sufficiency.
Highlighting that in the future, Huvadhu Atoll is targeted to be a hub for tourist activity, the President said that during the next 3 years, he is aiming to develop 21 islands in Gaddhoo constituency alone. The President highlighted that this would in turn create more job opportunities for youth.
In his speech, President Yameen noted that today the people have faith in this administration, for delivering on its electoral pledges.
