The Non-Resident Ambassador of Poland, His Excellency Adam Burakowski, presented his Letter of Credence to President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, this morning, at the President’s Office.
At the ceremony, the President welcomed the Ambassador to the Maldives and congratulated him on the commencement of his term as the Ambassador of Poland to the Maldives.
During the call, the President shed light on the 34 years of good bilateral relations between the Maldives and Poland, and expressed hopes that the existing ties between the two countries will be enhanced during the tenure of the Ambassador. The President and the Ambassador discussed on exploring the avenues of trade and tourism for greater cooperation between Maldives and Poland.
The President deliberated that Maldives being a small Island state; sea level rise and climate change are the greatest challenges faced by Maldives. Furthermore, the President shed light on the strong economic agenda carried out by the current administration for the development of the Maldives, and briefed the Polish Ambassador on the current political situation in the country.
The Ambassador of Poland expressed gratitude for receiving him as the new Non-Resident Ambassador of Poland to the Maldives, and expressed hopes for closer cooperation in mutually beneficial areas between both countries.
The President was accompanied at the call by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Asim and the Minister of State for Foreign Relations at the President’s Office, H.E. Mohamed Naseer.
